Job opportunities

Post-Doctoral Fellow – Molecular Pathology in Transplantation

A postdoctoral position is available with the Alberta Transplant Applied Genomics Centre (ATAGC) at the University of Alberta in Edmonton, Canada. The Centre’s approach is to analyze gene expression data on biopsies from transplanted organs in relation to histopathology and the clinical information obtained at the time of sample collection. The ATAGC has built a unique tissue (>750 human transplant biopsies) and data repository providing the ability to go back to the patients and understand how their clinical course is associated with the histopathological phenotype and gene expression data assessed by microarrays. The position will further define the mechanisms of allograft rejection and injury by relating gene expression information with extensive detailed studies in pathology and with clinical variables. The position involves the application and understanding of transcriptomics, pathology and pathology-based technologies like laser capture microdissection, image analysis by virtual microscopy, and multicolor 3D imaging.

Candidates should have a PhD or MD/PhD with research experience in pathology, transplantation and/or immunology. Good spoken and written language skills and a track record in independent design and performance of research are required. For those interested, please send a CV, statement of research interests, and name and contact details of three referees to Dr Michael Mengel, Associate Professor, Co-Director, Molecular Pathology, ATAGC (bW1lbmdlbEB1YWxiZXJ0YS5jYQ==) or Dr Banu Sis, Assistant Professor, Co-Director, Molecular Pathology, ATAGC (YnNpc0B1YWxiZXJ0YS5jYQ==).
